Sisters of Mercy

The Sisters of Mercy embody the very spirit of Tennova Healthcare.

They are women who have committed themselves to Jesus Christ by serving God's people — especially those who are sick, poor, and uneducated. They assist patients, family members, and Mercy associates through their visits, support, counsel, prayers, and vocation. They promote Tennova's mission and set an example of true service.

They grace our health system, and we are blessed by their presence.

Sister Margaret Turk

Sister Margaret is a true educator. She has taught at the elementary level, religion to adults, sexual-assault prevention, and stress-reduction techniques. She also trains nurses for their work in Knoxville churches as part of St. Mary's Parish Nurse Program. Like every good teacher, she is constantly learning and enjoys gaining new experience. She willingly shares her knowledge and her strong faith.

Sister Marie Moore

Sister Marie Moore returned to our ministry in October 2008 from Paducah, Kentucky, where she has dedicated her time and service for the past 12 years. Sister Marie spent 21 years at St. Mary’s and was the president of the hospital from 1971 to 1983. With her health care background and focus on spirituality, Sister Marie brings God’s love and her own healing touch to patients and their families. She has served long and generously, and her return is a true blessing to the Tennova community.

Sister Mary Albertine Paulus

Sister Albertine brings life during Catholic worship services at the hospital chapel with beautiful organ music. For years, she lived and promoted St. Mary's mission in her role on the Board of Directors, and in her service on leadership committees. Sister Albertine is a strong advocate for the mission, as well as the strategic goals for the Sisters of Mercy. She currently serves as Director of Evangelization at the Catholic diocese.

Sister Mary Janice Brink

Sister Janice has a great love for children. She taught elementary school for 10 years and served as a school principal for 33 years. When she retired, Sister Janice came to Tennova to support patients who are going through cancer treatments, orthopedic procedures, and rehabilitation. She is a native of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee.

Sister Mary Martha Naber

Sister Martha fills many of the needs that go beyond medical care. For patients and their families, for the poor and elderly in the community, and for Tennova's Associates and their families, Sister Martha is there in times of emergency to assist with food, money, comfort, encouragement, and prayer. She's the "keeper" of Tennova's history and also helps preserve the health system's community relationships.

Sister Patricia Connolly

Sister Pat's service has been as varied as the places she has lived. She has managed HUD apartments for the elderly in Ohio, ran a soup kitchen and children's program in one of the poorest cities in Florida, and has led a school for exceptional children in Nashville. Today, God uses Sister Pat to reach out to patients and family members in surgery and ICU waiting rooms and at Tennova's hospitals in Campbell and Jefferson Counties. Her Irish wit and smile provide encouragement and comfort to those around her.
